My quest with PMP certification.

1. What is PMP?

As per the PMI, PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Globally recognized and demanded, the PMP® demonstrates that you have the experience, education and competency to successfully lead and direct projects.

2. What is the eligibility criteria for PMP exam?

For details please visit:

Key Notes:

  1. One needs to get the PMI membership first. Though not mandatory but it has lots of benefits. So I would advice to be a member of this institute. One will get the latest PMBOK book and other study materials all free.
  2. Submit the application after attaining the training (35 PDU's) online using PMI website.
  3. It usually takes around a week time to get to know about the status of your application.
  4. One the application is approved one will be notified by email that application is approved or rejected.
  5. After application is approved one can schedule for the exam.

3. Where I attended the training to get necessary PDU?

4. What does the training includes/covers?

The training includes the following:

  1. Project management knowledge areas.
  2. Processes in each of the Knowledge areas.
  3. Questions to test knowledge on processes.
  4. The training also provides guidance to enroll for PMP exam.

5. Where did I went for my PMP exam?

6. What all are Exam Sources for preparation?

  1. Study materials from Astrowix
  2. PMBOK 4th Edition (This one gets after obtaining the PMI's membership). This is the Bible for the exam.

7. Tips for exam based on my experience?

  1. Schedule the exam and don't reset the date. This will motivate you to be consistent/regular.
  2. Generally it is advised to study 100 hrs seriously for the exam.
  3. Again I will re-iterate that PMBOK is the Bible so study it to understand the concepts.
  4. There are lots of study materials available but don't try to collect each one of them.
  5. Regularity is the key. Be regular in studies while preparing for the exam.

My best wishes.
